Betty Lou (Johnson) Harnetz

Betty Lou Harnetz, age 86, of Gladwin formerly of Prudenville went to be with the Lord on Tuesday September 12, 2017 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland surrounded by her loving family. 

Betty was born on September 1, 1931 in Flint, Michigan to Lyle and Clara (Hayden) Johnson. Betty was married to LeRoy Spalla in September 1947; he passed away in 1978. She later married Melvin J. Harnetz on May 12, 1984 in Mt. Morris. The couple moved to the Houghton Lake area in 1985 from Flint. She was a licensed minister and was a member of New Hope Chapel for 36 years. Betty enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with her family. She dedicated many hours to the church.     

Betty is survived by her sons; Tom (Linda) Spalla of Clio and Michael (Kim) Spalla of Gladwin, daughters; Ronda Pardee of Gladwin and Kim (Harry) Pounds of Essexville; step-daughter; Vickie (Rev. Tracy) Scott of Battle Creek, and step-son; Terry (Rachel) Harnetz of Burton, fourteen grandchildren, thirty five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband LeRoy Spalla, daughter Glenda White, husband Melvin Harnetz, two brothers and two sisters. 

Funeral Services for Betty Lou Harnetz will be conducted at 11:00 am on Sunday September 17, 2017 from New Hope Chapel with  Pastor Marty Tarrant and Pastor Fred Wynkoop officiating. Interment will be in Crestwood Memorial Gardens, Flint. Visitation will be held on Saturday September 16, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the church. Memorial contributions in memory of Betty are asked to be directed to New Hope Chapel located at 525 Cove Road, Prudenville, Michigan 48651.
