Byron G. Jacobus, 88, of  Houghton Lake passed away on Monday October 16, 2017 at Cherry Hill Haven Kalkaska.

Byron was born on May 27, 1929 in Ferndale, Michigan to John and Annette (Watling) Jacobus. Byron grew up in the Detroit area getting his Bachelor's Degree form the University of Detroit. He worked as a Manager of Personnel Accounts for Detroit Edison for many years. On May 22, 1954 in Royal Oak, Byron was married to Donna Jean Wardhouse. The couple moved to Houghton Lake from Clawson in 1989.  Byron was on the Lake Township Planning Commission, Lake Township Zoning Board of Appeals, and the Lake Township Board of Review. He enjoyed making woodworking projects and especially spending time with his family.

Surviving Mr. Jacobus are his loving wife of 63 years, Jean Jacobus of Houghton Lake; three daughter, Jill  Mathews of Highland Township, Polly Brown of Plymouth, and Penny Cox of Lakeside, California; four grandsons; several nieces and nephews.  Byron was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Vernon and Jack.
