Marion - David W. Bush, longtime resident of Marion, and former of Ypsilanti, passed away at home on Monday, November 21, 2016 with family by his side. He was 79.

David was born on April 16, 1937, in Sault Sainte Marie, MI to George Robert and Ella (Stephenson) Bush. David answered the call of duty serving as a reservist in the National Guard. On May 20, 1978 he entered into marriage with the former Sue Francis Youngs in Willis, MI; a marriage spanning over 34 years until Sue's passing in July of 2012. David had made his living working as a machinist with the Ford Motor Company until his time of retirement 30 years later. He was an active member of numerous clubs; the Harrison Tractor Club, the Harrison Snowmobile Club, as well as a lifelong member of the Moose Lodge in both Harrison and Ypsilanti. He served on the Zoning Administration for Winterfield Township and also volunteered for both the Augusta Township Fire Department and as a chief for the Marion Fire Department. Later in life David ran Dave's Custom Woodworking and Saw Mill of Marion and served the surrounding areas for years. He enjoyed spending time outside camping, hunting, snowmobiling and going to local tractor pulls. In his spare time he crafted different wood working. David loved his family and especially loved his cats.

He is survived by a large loving family; his children, Dale Bush of Ypsilanti, Debra (Jim) Strahan of FL, Brian (Julie) Bush of Ypsilanti, Lisa Bush of FL, Paul (Aletha) Scott of AR, Kim (David) Husketh of Ypsilanti, Michelle (Rob Manley) Nowland of Marion, Kenneth (Heidi) Youngs of Marion and Gary (Katie) Youngs of GA; 20 grandchildren with one on the way; 18 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue, a son, Steve Scott, his parents and two brothers.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, November, 27, 2016 at 2 p.m. with visitation held one hour prior at Fosnaught-Holdship Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Jim Mort. Interment will take place at Winterfield Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Relay for Life or the American Cancer Society.
