Welcome to the memorial page for

Edna L. Wetzig

December 19, 1917 ~ January 15, 2017 (age 99) 99 Years Old

Manton, Michigan - Edna Leigh Wetzig, resident of  Manton since 1955, peacefully passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Ohana AFC home. She was 99.

Edna was born on December 19, 1917 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin to parents Carl and Effie (Golden) Rockstad. She grew up in the Wisconsin area and entered into marriage with Eugene Wetzig in his hometown of Minneapolis, MN, on March 20, 1935.  They settled on a family farm created and built by Gene in Sheldon, WI.

Gene and Edna, together, began sharing the word of the Lord as they traveled and visited many places as missionaries.  Edna was part of and actively involved in Sunday school, bible study, and home visits. She was a faithful member of Manton Baptist Church and sang in the choir until recently.  Edna was a servant that passionately shared her love of Christ.

She could often be found tending to her flowers or working in her garden; even well into her 90's.  She would pass time working on her crafts, crocheting or knitting.  She was proud of her family and created many fond memories on camping and fishing trips with them.

Edna is survived by her large and loving family, her children; David (Nancy) Wetzig of Manton, Floyd Wetzig of Manton, Sharon (Al) Taylor of Manton, Nathan Wetzig of Manton, Pamela (Tom) Henry of Lake City, and Kathleen (Kevin) Lytle of Cadillac; son-in-law, Leroy Roderick of Cadillac; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Wetzig; one daughter, Geraldine Roderick; her parents; brothers, Melvin, Elmer, Walter and Earl; sister, Laura; grandchildren, Kevin, Calvin and Martin; and five great-grandchildren, Shane, Jessie, Zachary, Jacob and Job
