Buckley, Michigan  - Gary Gene Plank, of Buckley, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at his home. He was 73.
Gary was born on January 11, 1944, in Traverse City, Michigan to Troy and Ada (Coger) Plank. He grew up and spent the entirety of his life on the same farm he lived in since he was two years old. Gary entered into marriage with the former Karen Carmean on April 11, 1965. He answered the call of duty serving in the United States Air Force for 11 years. After returning home, Gary worked as a boat motor mechanic for Track & Trail and McDonald Marine in Frankfort until his time of retirement. He was a faithful member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Mesick and was actively involved in the youth group. Gary enjoyed taking pictures and was quite a good photographer. He liked woodworking and different crafts. He enjoyed playing chess or card games, especially cribbage. He loved the time he spent with his family and friends.
Gary is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen Plank of Buckley; two sons, Gary G. Plank, II and Troy E. (Leah) Plank; four grandchildren, Zachary, Katelynn, Roman and Matthew; sister, Gladys  (Robert) Tisron of MO; and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
 
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 2 p.m. with visitation held one hour prior Seventh Day Adventist Church in Mesick. Officiating will be Rev. Jonathon Chitwood. Military honors will be provided by the Cadillac Area Honor Guard. Interment will take place at Cornell Cemetery in Mesick.
Memorials contributions may be directed to the Plank Family, in care of his daughter-in-law, Leah Plank.
