McBain - Geraldine Lorraine Peterson, of Marion, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Autumnwood of McBain. She was 96.

Geraldine was born on March 16, 1921, in Marion, Michigan to Glenn and Ruth (Grice) Piper. In 1938 she entered into marriage with John "Jack" Peterson, making their home in Pontiac and the Waterford area for 39 years.  Geraldine did volunteer work at Michigan Cancer Foundation for 10 years and then attended the Pontiac Business Institute. She began working as a bookkeeper with the B.F. Goodrich Company and later for Montgomery Ward. 

In 1976 Geraldine and Jack moved north commuting between homes in Lake City and Marion before eventually settling in Marion and make it their permanent home. Geraldine was a member of the Marion United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, Naomi Ruth Circle, the 20th Century Club and the Marion Historical Society.  She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, playing pinochle, her pets and feeding the birds; as well as entertaining friends.

Geraldine is survived by her loving family; daughters, Carol (Ray) Kirby of Lake Ann and Diane (Manfred) Boehmer of Prudenville; daughter-in-law, Jean Peterson; grandchildren, Greg (Lynn) Kirby, Bridgitte (Matt) Doehring, Rod (Heidi) Kirby, Ramon Beaulieu, and Renee Beaulieu; five great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren, Jo Stafford, David Blowers, Leah Wilson, Calvin Blowers, and Carolyn Hardy. 

She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Gregg Peterson, her parents, many favorite aunts, uncle, cousins, and her husband Jack in 1984.

Visitation will be at the Fosnaught-Holdship Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 11:00 am, also at the funeral home.  Officiating will be the Rev. Jim Mort. Interment will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery in Marion. 

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Marion United Methodist Church, the Marion Historical Society, Munson Hospice or to the Marion Library.
