Evart - Jack Lewis Eastway, lifelong resident of Osceola County passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018 at his Hartwick Township home, with family by his side. He was 89.
Jack was born in Osceola county on December 7, 1928, to Louie and Mattie (Burdick) Eastway. On November 24, 1949 Jack entered into marriage with the former JoAnn Mys at the Lucas Rehoboth Church. The couple celebrated 61 years together before JoAnn's passing in 2011.
Jack began what would become a long career writing insurance, and eventually opened Eastway Insurance in Marion. Jack enjoyed splitting time between Florida and Northern Michigan, but knew his true home was the little slice of heaven he had carved out in Osceola county. He found great peace when at home spending time hunting, tending to the vegetables in the garden or harvesting sap and creating maple syrup in his sugar shack.
Jack is survived by his loving family; his wife, Loretta Eastway; children, Steven (Nora) Eastway, Curtis "Shawn" Eastway, Lisa (Gordon) DeHaan, and Mark (Shelly) Eastway; eleven grandchildren; as well as many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn; a son, David Eastway, and his parents.
A memorial service will be held at the Rose Lake Free Methodist Church on Saturday, March 24th at 3:00 pm, with visitation one hour prior. A luncheon will follow and be served at the Hartwick Township Hall. Jack will be laid to rest along side his first wife, JoAnn, at the Highland Township Cemetery, at a later date in the spring.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Rose Lake Free Methodist Church. The family is being served by the Fosnaught-Holdship Funeral Home.
