Janet Z. Manley, 84, of Houghton Lake passed away on Tuesday October 3, 2017 at home with her loving son by her side.

Janet was born on July 4, 1933 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan to Frank and Marie (Voncken) Zeegers. Janet graduated from Centerline High School in 1951 and attended Michigan State University. While at college she met Richard E. Manley and the couple married in East Lansing on December 3, 1955. Janet worked for the Oldsmobile Company as a secretary until the couple moved to Houghton Lake in 1963. Janet was very community involved, she served on the Houghton Lake Community Schools Board of Education for 23 years, the Mid-Michigan Library League Board for 42 years,  Houghton Lake Public Library Board, involved in Houghton Lake High School Plays, Musicals and Band Concerts, involved with Junior Miss Pageant for over 30 years, a member of the American Business Women Association, two book clubs, antique groups and was an avid antique collector.

Surviving Mrs. Manley are her son, David R. Manley of Houghton Lake; many close friends, including Yoshiko Miyakoshi of Chicago. Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard E. Manley; and brother, Gordon Zeegers. 

A Memorial Gathering will be Conducted for Mrs. Janet Z. Manley at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Janet are asked to be directed to the Houghton Lake High School Drama Program.
