Went to CMU with Kevin. We had a tight circle and we had fun playing games late into the night. He was creative and funny. Never followed him after Central but it appears he led a good life and shared with others. We are only here for so long. See you soon my friend.

I’ve typed and deleted a message numerous times. I guess it’s not that we don’t know what to say...but rather wish we didn’t have to say anything. That it didn’t happen. Heaven must have been getting ready for a party, and they needed a host...just wish they could have let us have him here for a bit longer.

I don't know where to start...You have meant so much to both my husband and myself ~ Without you we would not be where we are today and I am not just saying that! I know that is a story you will hear from not just a few but hundreds of people! He changed our lives! He was a great teacher, a Friend, and most of all just a great man. You will NEVER be replaced by anyone anywhere they broke the mold when you were made. Till we meet again ~ I love you!

Truly one of a kind, jack of all trades. Brilliant and genuine. The most influential person in my life k-12. Without Kevin I wouldn't have graduated. I still have all of the notes from his "lectures" he was so enthusiastic it felt like a story. When he did something he gave it his all. His passion shines through and left forever impacts on the lives of many. Absolutely heart breaking. RIP Kevin, I'll never forget you

I moved to HL in the 3rd grade, 1970, and was immediately introduced to the German Headlock and the Octopus hold by Kevin at recess. Sooo many childhood, teen and early adult memories with this man! So sad. Gods peace and comfort to his family.

To say Kevin's passing breaks my heart is and understatement! Without him I wouldn't be what I am today! I was giving up with life in general and Kevin never gave me the chance he pushed me and told me to get my stuff together he kept me pushing when I didn't wanna push anymore, he left a life long impression on my heart that none will ever beat he was real and honest and in school that's what you need you need someone that will tell you how it is and to never give up and Kevin did that for me he really was an the force behind me when I needed it my heart hurts for all the people he impacted and for his family and friends bit mostly I'm broken hearted that other students won't get the chance to see what an amazing person he was, what an amazing teacher was! the world is now missing such an inspirational tough loving person he really will be missed! Fly high Kevin!

I’m sadly taken aback by Kevin’s passing. He helped make the teen and young adult years fantastic. No one would believe the real life adventures. I’m sorry for the family’s loss and the loss for the community. Rest In Peace until we meet again.

He was a great teacher and a nice person in general. He talked to the adult students like adults never treated them like kids..he had a way to teach history that made it stick with you.. i remember all that and he has not been my teacher since 92 but he was good.. he will be missed..

I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Sperry was the best teacher that I ever had. He truly cared about each and everyone of his students. During the short time that I knew him he helped me a lot and made an otherwise dark time in my life a little bit easier. When I went to school I always looked forward to getting there, a sensation that was foreign to me until then. He will truly be missed by myself and everyone in my family.

I taught with Kevin for 8 years. He had a special connection with many of the Alternative Ed. kids we enjoyed teaching. He was a great teacher with an unique personality! He will be hard to replace and sorely missed.

When you were a student teacher, I tried to give you the run around....gave you such a hard time, you didn’t let me get away with it.....then you became my sons teacher years later....you were the best....you took a young man that thought he knew everything and taught him what he needed to know.....couldn’t ask for a better teacher. You will be missed and thought of everyday

I am so sorry for your loss. I have known Kevin since childhood growing up in the same neighborhood and then he became a part of our family through the marriage of his mother and to my father. Such a great loss for his family, friends and students. He will be missed.
