Lawrence J. Parr, age 89, of Merritt formerly of Prudenville passed away on Thursday July 27, 2017 at Crawford Continuing Care Center in Grayling.

Lawrence was born on April 6, 1928 in Holly, Michigan to Jerome and Ina (Smith) Parr. He served in the US Air Force during WWII. He married Patricia R. McDonagh on December 22, 1955 in Pontiac. The couple moved to Prudenville in 1970 from Walled Lake. Lawrence was a dedicated truck driver. He was a member of the Houghton Lake VFW Post 4034, the Houghton Lake American Legion Post 245, he was a long time Scoutmaster for troop 955, Lawrence also enjoyed doing puzzles, wood working and making furniture, hunting, fishing and going to truck shows.

Lawrence is survived by his sons; Larry (Tracy) Parr of Merritt, Patrick (Mary) Parr of Prudenville, daughter; Nancy (Paul McCullough) Parr of Lakeland, Florida, nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren and Aunt Reha Tatro of Pontiac. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Patricia.

Funeral Services for Lawrence are scheduled at Christler Funeral Home- Houghton Lake Chapel on Wednesday August 2, 2017 at 12 pm. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of the service. Burial will be in Roscommon Township Cemetery in Houghton Lake on Friday August 4, 2017 at 1 pm. Memorials may be directed to the Mid-Michigan Honor Flight.
