Leona June Whitehead, age 78, of Higgins Lake passed away on Saturday October 7, 2017 at home with her loving family by her side.

Leona was born on January 19, 1939 in Thetford Township, Michigan to Guy and Evelyn (French) Whitman. She graduated from Lakeville High School. Leona worked as a Nurse for Frankenmuth Nursing Home, Grayling Nursing Center and Hilltop Nursing & Rehabilitation before retiring. 

Leona is survived by her daughter; Phyllis (Ron) Cunningham of Higgins Lake, son; Carl (Dianne) Whitehead of Jacksonville, FL; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two sisters; Glenna Drohn of Eaton Rapids and Genevieve March of Central Lake; brother; Sandy Whitman of AZ. and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister; Charlotte Hayes and grandson; Christopher Whitehead.

Per Leona wishes cremation has taken place and private family services will be held. Memorial contributions in memory of Leona are asked to be directed to Munson Hospice-Grayling.
