Marvin Stanley "Marty" Stevenson, 88, of  Traverse City and Hougthon Lake passed away on Sunday August 20, 2017.

Marty was born on November 29, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan to Stanley and Mary (Qwerbach) Stevenson. He grew and went to school in the Detroit area. Marty served in the Army during WWII and during the Korean War. He was married to Phyllis Thurau who preceded him in death. Later he married Mary DeLong who also preceded him in death. Marty moved to Houghton Lake from Ferndale in 1999. He worked as a Barber for over 40 years in Ferndale and Houghton Lake. Marty was a member of the DAV, Houghton Lake and Traverse City VFW Posts, and was an avid bowler.

Surviving Mr. Stevenson are his three daughters, Cynthia (John) DeLong of Ferndale, Robin Jelsch of Bloomfield Hills, and Shannon Kraft of Florida; four granddaughters, Autumn Vanacker, Leah Slimak, Margaret DeLong, and Brittany Stevenson; five grandsons, Jesse (Emily) Slimak, John (Jennifer) DeLong, Bradley DeLong, Loren Dengate, and Jacob Dengate; brother, Albert (Lorraine) Stevenson of Plymouth; daughter-in-law, Karleen (Kevin) Hans of Prudenville and nine great grandchildren. Marty was preceded in death by his parents; son, Marty Stevenson; wife, Phyllis Stevenson; and wife, Mary Stevenson. 

Memorial services for Marvin Stanley Stevenson will be conducted at 1:00 pm Friday August 25, 2017 from Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel with Rev. Joshua Henderson officiating. Interment will be in Denton Township Cemetery, Prudenville. Visitation will be held on Friday August 25, 2017 from 12:00 pm until the time of the service at 1:00 pm.
