Ann Arbor - Michael Keith Tidey, longtime resident of Manton, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017 while being treated at the VA Medical Center in Ann Arbor.  He was 67.  

Michael was born on August 7, 1950, in Cadillac, to parents Keith and Velda "Fern" Tidey.   Mike grew up in the Manton area and was a graduate of Manton High School.  He honorably served his country with both the United States Army, having two tours in Vietnam, as well as the National Guard.  Following his time in the service Mike returned home to Manton and settled in a position of civil service acting as the postman for the US Postal Service.  Mike was recognized for his work with the post office and asked to train others in the field before his eventually retirement after 30 years. On May 8, 2008, Mike entered into marriage with the former Glenna (Weston) Foor, in Manton. Mike also had a passion for history, as he often spent time researching the subject of French military.  He enjoyed reading and even wrote a little with aspirations of someday authoring his own book.  

Mike is survived by his loving wife of nearly 10 years, Glenna Tidey of Manton; his children, Shawn and Margaret; stepchildren, Stacy Bundy, Elizabeth, Diana, and Adam Foor; 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Barb Akers and Shelia Helsel; as well as many other loving family members and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

A memorial gathering celebrating Mike's life will be held at the Manton VFW Post 7806, on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, with military honors under the auspices of the Cadillac Area Honor Guard to take place at 6:00 pm.  Memorial contributions may be directed to Manton Military Museum.
