Cadillac, Michigan- Richard "Dick" Masten, of Cadillac passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at his home with his family by his side. He was 78.

Dick was born April 8, 1939, in Cadillac, Michigan to Sayre and Merle (Russell) Masten. He was a devoted and loving husband to Cheryl, whom he called his "first wife... and only wife" for 56 years. Dick was a proud US Army veteran, a patient teacher, an expert glazer, a life-long motorcycle enthusiast, and a God-send to anybody who needed a helping hand. His knowledge and skills made him an "expert" on just about everything. He was a devout member of the Cadillac Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Cadillac and modeled his life after Jesus Christ. Anyone who crossed paths with him, was met with a smile and good-hearted humor to brighten their day. His daily mission was to make someone's life a little better. Dick often said that if he was able to do that, he had a successful day!

Dick raised two beautiful daughters, Judy and Jill, who will miss him everyday; two son-in-laws, whom he loved and mentored; and three wonderful grandchildren, whom he proudly adored.

He made the most of everyday in Northern Michigan and there was rarely a week that he could not be found visiting his favorite businesses in Cadillac and chatting with his many friends. Dick's passing will be felt by hundreds of family members and friends across the country. Everyone will always appreciate how he helped fix problems and prepared them to fend for themselves once he was gone.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday September 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. with visitation held one hour prior at Hall-Holdship Funeral Home in Manton. Officiating will be Elder Pat Milligan. Military Honors will be provided by the Cadillac Area Honor Guard. Interment will take place at Dayhuff Cemetery in Meauwataka.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family, in care of his wife, Cheryl Masten.
