Walter E. Horn, age 89, of Houghton Lake passed away on Thursday September 7, 2017 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Center in Bellaire with his loving family by his side. 

Walter was born on June 22, 1928 in Owosso, Michigan to Walter & Gladys (Wiles) Horn. He served in the US Army. Walter married Helen B. Alvord on October 9, 1948 in Owosso. He was a foreman for General Motor's Flint Buick Plant for 30 years and retired in 1978. The couple vacationed in Houghton Lake for many years before moving here in 1978. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Prudenville and a lifetime member of the Corunna Masonic Lodge. Walter enjoyed spending time at the Houghton Lake Senior Center, going to McDonalds and jis church family and his Sunday dinners at Shaker's.  

Walter is survived by his daughter; Shirley Ann and husband Lee Janssen of East Jordan, grandchildren; James (Mary) Lee of Texas, Thomas (Marianne) Lee of Indiana and SheriAnn (Tony) Galullo of Indiana, eight great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Helen, brothers; Orie and Edward Horn and sister; Virginia Schultz. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Prudenville on Saturday October 28, 2017 at 11 am. The family will greet friends from 10 am until the time of the service.
