Traverse City, Michigan - Wayne Howard Seger Sr., went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 70 on February 10, 2018 after a short illness.
Wayne was born to Rev. Earl and Ethelyn (Banks) Seger in Holly, Michigan on December 4, 1947. He entered into marriage with Linda (Stewart) on November 6, 1964. He graduated from Manton High School in 1966, and went on to get a psychology degree at Kalamazoo College. Wayne’s first job was setting bowling pins, and he also worked at several factories, the Traverse City State Hospital, and was assistant fire chief for many years. He retired from the City of Manton as the assistant supervisor for the Department of Public Works. Wayne was instrumental in starting the Manton Area Rescue Squad and was also the park manager at Lake Billings campground. He attended Fife Lake Baptist Church, enjoyed history, especially the Civil War, collecting coins and stamps, fishing, guns, watching his grandkids play sports, and spending time with family.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Linda Seger of Manton; son Wayne (Haley) Seger Jr. of Manton; daughter Dawn (Daryl) Boonstra of McBain; grandchildren Shanel, Sawyer (Megan), and Silas Seger of Manton, and Dylan, Emma, and Bristol Boonstra of McBain; brothers Paul (Georgette) Seger of Morristown, TN, Dale (Jackie) Seger of Calhoun, GA, and Aaron Seger of Orlando, FL, and sister-in-law Gale Seger of Lake City, MI; and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother Earl Seger Jr.
Per Wayne’s wishes, no services will be held at this time.
