David Finstrom Obituary

Cadillac - David Harry Finstrom passed away at his home on Friday, April 19, 2024 with his family by his side. Dave was born in Cadillac on January 27, 1938 to Harry and Helen (Billet) Finstrom. He grew up on his family's dairy farm. After graduation from Cadillac High School, Dave enlisted in the United States Army where he served for two years before his honorable discharge. He married the former Carol Greeley on December 3, 1960 at the First Presbyterian Church of Cadillac.  Dave retired from Kysor of Cadillac in 1997 after more than 30 years of employment.

There were many hobbies that he enjoyed including softball, hunting, fishing, downhill skiing, bowling, golf, playing cards and gardening. He loved to travel, especially to visit family. Florida was one of his favorite places and he and Carol spent winters in Lake Placid Fl after his retirement. Dave was a faithful and active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Placid, Florida. He was a Stephen Minister and assisted with Grace Ministries at the church.

Dave is survived by his wife, Carol Finstrom of Cadillac and Lake Placid; children, Mike (Laurie) of Rogers, Arkansas and Kathy (Jim) Wheeler of Norton Shores, Michigan; daughters-in-law, Amy Finstrom, of Cadillac, Michigan and Paula Finstrom of Sebewaing, Michigan; grandchildren; Josh (Kristen) Finstrom of Carthage, North Carolina, DJ Wheeler (Sarah Palsma) of Dublin, Ohio, and Travis (Carly) Wheeler of Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada; great-granddaughter, Maggie Finstrom. He is also survived by his sisters; Hilma Lamphere, Carol Mahan and Joyce Bonventre; sister-in-law, Andy (Bob) Adams and brother-in-law Denny (Mary) Greeley; and many beloved nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jeanne; brothers, Harold Finstrom and Chuck Finstrom; sister-in-law, Lois Finstrom; brothers-in-law Bob Lamphere, Don Lamphere, Clark Mahan and Joe Bonventre.

A time of visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 3:00 until 5:00pm at Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home in Cadillac.  Dave's memorial service will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of Michigan and the Jack Frost Closet at First Presbyterian Church of Cadillac.  Condolences and memories may be shared with the family online at www.Hitesman-Holdship.com
