Cadillac, Michigan- Alieta Yvonne Forsgren, of Cadillac, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Sunnyside Senior Living in Cadillac. She was 87.
Alieta was born on July 15, 1931 to Lyle and Laura (Shepherd) Mitchell at Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was a graduate of Cadillac High School in 1949. On November 6, 1954 she entered into marriage with Kenneth Forsgren in Cadillac. Alieta spent her time working at Mercy Hospital until her retirement after 35 years. She was a long-time faithful member of the previous First Church of God and current Northern Light Church. In her spare time, she volunteered at the church with her involvement in activities and fundraisers. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School classes for many years. Alieta was a lover and fan of all country music, especially gospel country. She cherished the memories made at family gatherings. Alieta loved surrounding herself with her family and her eyes would light up when she spent time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Alieta is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Forsgren of Cadillac; daughter, Shelley A. (Harold) Penney of Cadillac; grandchildren, Jennifer K. (Kevin) Gunnett of Tustin and Matthew (Amity) Forsgren of Cadillac; great-grandchildren, Carlin, Braden, Zach, Leeanna and Hunter; brother-in-law, Kurt Forsgren; sister-cousins, Donna Chambers, Vera Ellerman and Gerry (Chuck) Scribner; and many other loving family members and friends
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David Dean Forsgren; grandson, Kenny; sister, Shirley Hunley; three brothers, David Mitchell, Harold Mitchell and Maurice Mitchell; and sister-cousin, Pat Hatch.
A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Northern Light Church of Cadillac with visitation held one hour prior. Officiating will be Rev. John Mellish and Rev. Tad Mellish.
