Attilio Rocco

Our beloved father, Attilio Rocco, age 99, of Marco Island, Florida, journeyed home in peace on Thursday, December 20th 2018 surrounded by love and family.

Attilio was born on April 22, 1919 in Rocca Pia, Italy, to Pasquale and Paolina Rocco.  He proudly served in the US Army during World War II from July 8, 1941 to October 22, 1945.  He moved to the United States when he was eighteen.

Attilio found success for himself and his family through Rocco’s Restaurant, keeping the stomachs and hearts of Detroit filled for over 30 years with delicious food.

Attilio was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Mary, beloved son Robert, and treasured grandson David. Cherished father of Frank (Cynthia), Paula (Gary) and daughter-in-law Audrey. Proud Papa of Jennifer, Monta (Saso), Jeffrey (Amanda), Anthony, Jenna, Jackie, and Torre. Great-grandfather of Cameron, Mila, and Luca.

His family and friends treasure his love of food, leadership, risk taking, golfing, fishing, and endless stories.  “Rocco” charmed his way into the hearts of all he met with his Italian accent and he will be dearly missed.

A memorial service will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan in the spring of 2019.  Attilio and Mary enjoyed their retirement in Marco Island and met many life long friends.  His family and friends will also celebrate his life at the Plantation in the winter of 2019.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice Angels Foundation at www.hospiceangels.org, or mailed to Hospice Angels Foundation, 503 N.
