Beatrice Shepard Obituary

Falmouth - Beatrice (Bea) Mary Shepard of Falmouth, formerly from Romulus passed away at home on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 with family by her side. She was 84. 

Bea was born March 18, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to Hugh and Eunice (Sloan) Boehmer. She entered into marriage with Aldred "Al" Glenn Shepard on October 24,1954 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wayne, Michigan.  Bea spent most of her working career as an Licensed Practical Nurse at Apple Tree Rehabilitation Center in Romulus, where she remained creating a career spanning over 32 years. She was affectionately known by the residents and staff as "Aunt Bea".  Prior to this she worked as a beautician. When Bea retired, she became president of St. Vincent DePaul.  Bea loved to fish, especially for catfish which she called "Bull Heads". She loved caring for her plants and flowers as well as her family. Family was very important to her. 

Bea is survived by her children, Allen Glenn Shepard of Romulus, Eunice Nina Ferguson from Falmouth, Theresa Louise Dore from Wayne, David Hugh Shepard from Howell and Carrie May Dalton from  Belleville. She also has fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Shepard; a brother, Theodore; a grandson, Blake; and her parents.
 
A memorial mass will be conducted at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Romulus where Rev. John Dumas will officiate, at a later date. Details of the memorial Mass and placement of her urn at the Cato Cemetery in Lakeview will follow at a later date.

The family is being served by the Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home.
