St. Johns - Betty Ilene Closson, longtime Cadillac resident, recently of Saint Johns, MI, passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Hazel Findley Country Manor. She was 90.
Betty was born on April 24, 1928, in Dearborn, Michigan to Adam and Bessie (Becker) Kneisel. She was raised in the Evart area and was a graduate of Evart High School. On April 20, 1958, Betty, entered into marriage with Jim Closson. The couple began a long career in accounting working together to help many local business' with their bookkeeping and accounting. Betty enjoyed spending time in the garden and canning many items she was able to grow. She was an active and proud Girl Scout Leader and a faithful member of United Methodist Church.
Betty is survived by her loving family; son, Jim Closson of Cadillac; her daughter, Kay (Dirk) Besko of Saint Johns; grandsons, Bradley (Amber Vanderstow) of Lake City, and Scott Besko of St. Johns; as well as many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Closson on January 17, 1994.
Visitation for friends and family will be from 6 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home. Funeral services take place at 11 am on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 11 am, with visitation one hour prior, also at the funeral home. Officiating will be Judy Coffey.
Interment and committal services will be at Osceola Township Cemetery, near Evart.
Memorials contributions may be directed to the Hazel Findley Country Manor in St. Johns or Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
