Betty Fewless -Baum Obituary

Tustin, Michigan - Betty Mae (Hall) Fewless-Baum, of Tustin passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018 at home. She was 88.

Betty was born on November 21, 1929, in Plymouth, Michigan to Forrest and Ella (Butler) Hall. She entered into marriage with Merle Fewless on May 8, 1947, the couple spent 38 years together, until his time of passing on May 26, 1985. Betty later married James Baum on June 4, 1988 in LeRoy, Michigan, the couple spent 25 years together, until his time of passing on December 21, 2013. Betty liked going out square dancing for many years. She enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening, feeding the birds, and going on family camping trips to Rose Lake. She loved traveling all around the states, whether it was on volunteer drives or for vacations. She held many jobs throughout her life as a factory worker at Riverside Electric, working on the family farm baling hay and helping with farm chores, volunteering at the Marion Livestock Auction Lunchroom, at Kmart, and even as a maid at a hotel, but her most rewarding job was as the matriarch of her family. She loved being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. In her spare time, Betty would crochet and knit. She donated many of the mittens she made to organizations for children every year, and she made special Christmas stockings and graduation afghans for all of her children and grandchildren. She would often be found with a book in her hands. Betty was proud to be involved in many different clubs including the Relay for Life, managing the Marion Senior Meal Site, and the Marion Women's Auxiliary. She looked forward to attending Senior Dinners all over to have food and fellowship with friends everywhere. Betty was a faithful member of the Dighton Wesleyan Church for many years.

Betty is survived by her children, Allen (Cynthia) Fewless, Leora (Elmo) Hoaglund, Sheila Smith, Paul Fewless, Keith (Ingrid) Fewless, Amy Jo (Michael Talsma) Fewless, and Jessica (Andrew) Coykendall; step-daughter, Kimberly (Tony) Sheets; step-son, Cody Baum; special-daughter-in-love, Sandra Fewless; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Donald (Jean) Hall, Leon (Jill) Hall, Larry Hall and Steve (friend, Carol) Hall; two sisters, Debbie Bowman and Marcia Kipp; and many other loving family, friends and neighbors.
