Clinton "Sam" Hilden Obituary

Marion - Clinton "Sam" Burr Hilden, of Marion, formerly of Temple, Harrison and Curtis, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Munson Healthcare's Cadillac Hospital. He was 86.

He was born into a family of seven children on September 27, 1932, in Owosso, Michigan to Edward Earl and Emma May (Madison) Hilden. In 1950 Sam entered into marriage with the former Donna C. Pruden at the Temple Church, celebrating over 68 years together and three beloved children.

Sam made his living in Marion running the Marathon gas station before it's eventual closing and was known by many in town for driving school bus.  He truly enjoyed cars and rarely would span any amount of time without having some vehicle he would be trying to buy or sell.  He often spent time adding to his collection of car photos or chasing his next big catch, enjoying his love for fishing.  Sam and Donna spent a few good years in the Upper Peninsula and the community of Curtis where he could continue his passion for fishing and where he was a former member of the Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Hilden of Marion; a son Gary Hilden; two daughters, Brenda (Wendell) Wing and Teresa Bergey all of Marion; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Frances Cody as well as many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, a daughter-in-law, Kathy Dodson, and a son-in-law Terry Bergey.

Per his wishes cremation has taken place and services will take place at Fernwood Cemetery in Temple at a later date.

Memorials contributions may be directed to the Temple Church.
