Cadillac, Michigan - David Robert Welsh, of Cadillac passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was 75.

David was born on July 1, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio to Lowell and Jessie (Wood) Welsh. He graduated from Grandview High School in Columbus, Ohio in 1960.  David entered into marriage with the former Joanne Engels in Birmingham, Michigan on New Years Day, 1989. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves. David spent his career working for Meier Metals in Hazel Park, Michigan selling raw materials such as aluminum, brass and copper until his time of retirement in 2003. He volunteered his time as a LaCrosse coach at several schools: St. Mary's Prep School in Orchard Lake, Cranbrook Schools in Bloomfield Hills, and Everest Academy in Clarkston. David liked spending time outdoors fishing. He enjoyed traveling and made many special trips to Disney World, Hilton Head, South Carolina and to Mackinac Island. David was a faithful parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church and was a founder of the food pantry for the church. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and was a 3rd and 4th degree knight. David loved spending time with his family, especially with his nieces and nephews.

David  is survived by his wife, Joanne M. Welsh; brother, Raye (Billie) Welsh; numerous special nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Welsh.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a recitation of the Rosary held at 7:30 p.m. at Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial will be conducted on Wednesday August 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. with visitation held one hour prior at St. Ann Catholic Church. Officiating will be Father Michael Janowski. Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Cadillac.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Ann Food Pantry, Hospice of Michigan or Michigan Right to Life.
