Dennis P. Mikula

Dennis P. Mikula, 71, of  Houghton Lake passed away on Thursday January 17, 2019 at home with his loving children at his side.

Dennis was born on March 29, 1947 in Alma, Michigan to John and Ruth (Halliwell) Mikula. Dennis grew up and attended school in the Alma Area. On November 20, 1965 in Alma Dennis was married to Connie M Wales.  He worked as a Truck Driver for several companies including Thayer Dairy for many years. The couple had lived in Alma, Temple, Las Vegas, Nevada and then moved to Houghton Lake in 1995.  He helped in establishing the North Shore Lounge Euchre Club and enjoyed working in his yard and gardening. He was a wood worker and made several bird houses to adorn his yard and garden.  Dennis also liked to fish and hunt.

Surviving Mr. Mikula are his daughter, Marcy (Mark Barrett) Mikula of Houghton Lake; son, Marty Mikula of Houghton Lake; three grandchildren, Logan, Ashley, and Sara; four great grandchildren, McKenzie, Declan, Montgomery, and Marcella; sister, Linda (Terry) Schall of Breckenridge; several nieces and nephews.  Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Connie M Mikula; sister, Carol Ann Koehler; and brother, John Gary Mikula. 

A Celebration of Life gathering for Dennis P. Mikula will be held at the North Shore Lounge, Houghton Lake on February 2, 2019 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm with a Raise One High in Memory of Dennis Toast at 5:00 pm.  Interment for Dennis and his wife Connie will be in the spring at Pritchard Cemetery in Elwell.  Memorial contributions in memory of Dennis are asked to be directed to the American Cancer Society.  Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
