Donald Chrispell Obituary

Donald Evert Chrispell, age 65, of Merritt passed away October 25, 2019 at his home.

 

Don was born August 11, 1954 in Houghton Lake Heights to Evert and Nila (Nichols) Chrispell.

 

He married Alice Mead on October 27, 1979 in Merritt.

 

Don graduated from Houghton Lake High School and was employed at Randall Lumber in Houghton Lake for 25 years and Arrow Homes in Merritt until his retirement.   Don spent many years as a race car driver at the Merritt Speedway and was a volunteer member of the Merritt Area Fire Department for many years and served as Fire Chief for 10 years.
 

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the out  of doors, but mostly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

 

Don is survived by his wife Alice, children: Kimberly (Rusty) Brooks, Kevin (Monique) Chrispell, Kurt Chrispell and Keri Chrispell and three grandchildren:  Phillip Chrispell, Malcom Chrispell and Anna Brooks.

 

He is also survived by brothers Charles (Helen) Chrispell, Larry (Mary Ellen) Chrispell and

William (Janice) Chrispell and sister Lois (Eldon) Frantz, sister in law Karla (Michael) Labbe, brother in law Harry (Janine) Mead and many nieces and nephews.

 

Don was preceded in death by his parents and sister Nina Brown.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Donald on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 12 Noon at the Merritt Butterfield United Methodist in Merritt.
