Donald W. Cooper Jr., age 80 of St. Clair Shores, passed away peacefully in St. Clair Shores on August 11, 2019 with his daughter by his side.
Donald was born in Saginaw on July 1, 1939 to the late Donald and Agnes Cooper.
Donald was a decorated Marine veteran, retiring in 1976 as a gunnery sergeant. He served his country honorably during the Vietnam conflict. His patriotism and service will always be remembered by his family, especially his grandson who is serving in the Marines.
Donald is the beloved father of Andrea Keller, cherished grandfather of James (Megan) Keller Jr, dearest great-grandfather of Lilliana, Levi, Lincoln and Logan. He is stepfather of Sheila, Debbie and Shari. Don is also survived by multiple step-grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Mae Cooper, sister, Shirley O’Dell and his son Keith Cooper.
Funeral services for Don will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, August 16, 2019 at the Young-Holdship Funeral Home in Lake City with Pastor Wayne VanDuinen officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until the time of services.
Burial will follow immediately at Lake City Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Jackson Koster Gray Legion Post 300 of Lake City.
