Lake City, Michigan - Doris J. Kesterke, of Lake City passed away on her 97th birthday, Friday, October 6, 2017 at Belle Oakes in Lake City with her family by her side.

Doris was born October 6, 1920, in Niles, Michigan to Grover and Eva (Valentine) Vandenburg. Doris married Lawrence D. Kesterke on February 21, 1940 in Kokomo, Indiana. The couple spent 67 years together until his time of passing in January 2007. She worked as a book keeper for over 25 years and then worked for the State of Michigan until her time of retirement in 1983. Doris enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She liked to play bridge and loved traveling around the world with her husband. Doris was a faithful member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Sodus, Michigan.

Doris is survived by two daughters, Ruth Martinic of Tustin and Reta (Simon) Vriend of the Netherlands; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 12 noon with visitation held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Sodus, Michigan. Officiating will be Pastor Mark Mitchell. Interment will take place at Shanghai Cemetery in Eau Claire, Michigan.
