Doris Malin Obituary

 

Marion - Doris Ann Malin passed away Jan 19, 2019 at Autumnwood of McBain. She was 87. 

Doris was born to Ward and Esther Clark on Jan 6, 1932 in Capac, Michigan where she grew up and attended Capac High school. During that time she met her high school sweetheart and the love of her life Alphonse Malin, the two married in holy Matrimony on Oct 21, 1950, celebrating nearly 67 years of marriage together.  In the late 50’s Doris and Al settled in Clawson, Michigan where she worked as a secretary and they began their family of three children Leon, Doreen and Denise. In 1973 they relocated to Marion where they had many business ventures owning and operating all of them including, Scenic Pine Family Campground, Towne Club Pop, Scenic Pine Golf, Princess House and Doris was well known in Marion for years as the "cake lady", specializing in wedding cakes.  Doris and Al spent their lives dancing, loving music, traveling and entertaining family friends and guest with their own homemade wine. They enjoyed living their life together to the fullest. She loved listening to Al play the organ, often humming along or having sing-a-longs, but most of all, Doris enjoyed being a wonderful mother.

Doris is Survived by her family; her son Leon Malin of Marion; daughters, Doreen (Jim) Slater of Cadillac and Denise (Kevin) Miller of Marion; six grandchildren Ben (Lauren) Ashmore, Daniel Malin, Jessica Miller, Jadin Miller, Jennifer Slater, and Stephanie Slater; two great-granddaughters, Presley and Brynn Ashmore.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alphonse Malin; her parents and sister; Fred Clark, Esther Kegler, and Eileen Nickolaus.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Marion, with visitation one hour prior.  Re. Joseph Fix will preside. 
Interment will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Marion, in the spring.  Memorial contributions can be directed to Alzheimer's Association.

The family is being served by the Fosnaught-Holdship Funeral Home.
