Dorothy Mae Honke, 95, of Prudenville, and formerly of Owosso, passed away on Sunday July 23, 2017 at Munson Hospice House, Traverse City.

Dorothy was born on December 4, 1921 in Owosso, Michigan to Irvin and Lola (Schultz) DeFrenn. She grew up in the Owosso area and graduated from Owosso Community Schools. Dorothy was married on December 4, 1940 in New Haven Township. to Howard Frank Honke. Dorothy worked for 20 years with Mitchell-Bentley Corporation. She also was a School Bus Driver in Corunna for over 20 years, a job she truly enjoyed. She was a member of the Corunna Masons and Eastern Star. Dorothy enjoyed cooking and spending her time with family.

Surviving Mrs. Honke are her loving son, Norman (Sandra) Honke of Prudenville; two grandchildren, Marshon (Bob) Humphries, and Alicia (Eric) Cook; two great grandchildren, Shelby Humphries and Elle Humphries. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard Frank Honke; and two brothers, Donald Irvin DeFrenn, and Edwin Cecil DeFrenn. 

Memorial Services for Dorothy Mae Honke will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday August 19, 2017 from Christler Funeral Home, Prudenville Chapel. Interment will be in New Haven Township Cemetery, Owosso. Visitation will be held the hour before the service. Memorial contributions in memory of Dorothy are asked to be directed to the Munson Hospice House, 450 Brook St, Traverse City, MI 49684.
