Dorwin D. Clark

August 20, 1935 ~ January 1, 2018 (age 82) 82 Years Old


 

Traverse City - Dorwin Duane Clark, longtime resident of Marion and formerly of the Lansing area, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018 after a brief stay at Tendercare's Birchwood Nursing. He was 82.

Dorwin was born on August 20, 1935, in Lansing, Michigan to Walter and Alameda (McConnel) Clark. He entered into marriage with the former Marilyn Sarlouis on September 15, 1955 in Bath , MI. The couple celebrated over 62 years marriage following a relationship that started from knowing one another and attending the same high school.  Dorwin was a graduate of Bath High School and then proudly enlisted with the United States Navy serving during the Korean War.

Following his time in the service, Dorwin, returned home and went straight to work. He began a long career a relationship with Montgomery Wards, driving truck for over 20 years.  After the eventual closing of Wards, Dorwin continued to drive with Kmart and retired from there in the mid 90's.  He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and the DAV.  

Dorwin is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Clark of Marion; his children, Mike Clark of Evart, Dawn Marie Morrison of Marion,and Matt Clark of Marion; three grandchildren, Matthew, Alyssa, and Nicole; one great-grandson, Kaisyn Barr; two sisters, Jackie and Phyllis; one brother, Dan Clark; as well as many other loving family members and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation for friends and family will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at the Fosnaught-Holdship Funeral Home.  Funeral services will take place at 12 noon, on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 also at the funeral home in Marion.  The Chaplain William "Bump" Peters will officiate.

Interment will be at the Middle Branch Township Cemetery in Marion in the spring.
