Douglas "Doug" D. Dankert

Douglas D. Dankert, age 58, of Houghton Lake passed away on Wednesday November 27, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. 

Doug was born on February 15, 1961 in Clare, Michigan to Herbert and Shirley (Apps) Dankert Sr. He spent most of his life in the Houghton Lake area. He worked as a builder for many years. He enjoyed NASCAR, cooking, watching football, playing golf, fishing and hunting. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed joking around. 

Doug is survived by his children; Sean (Sara) Dankert of Texas and Meaghan Dankert of Houghton Lake, grandchildren; Seth, Koeben, Conner, Kaiden, Genevieve "GiGi" and Kendall, fiancé; Katy Woodring of Houghton Lake, mother; Shirley Dankert of Prudenville, brothers; Herbert (Crystal) Dankert Jr. of Prudenville, Daniel (Deb) Dankert of Prudenville and Keith (Tammy) Dankert of Prudenville, sister; Francene (Doug) France of Prudenville, sister-in-law; Kathy Dankert of Prudenville, and several nieces, nephews and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his father; Herbert C. Dankert Sr., sister; Patricia Dankert and brother; Dennis A. Dankert. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday December 7, 2019 from 12-4 pm at the Roscommon County Commission on Aging located at 2625 Townline Road, Houghton Lake. Interment will be in Denton Township Cemetery. In-lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family. Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel is serving the family.
