Cadillac, Michigan- Edward “Ed” Charles Savage, age 86, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, November 10th, 2017.
He was born August 15th, 1931 in Bay City, MI to Bernard and Marie Savage. Ed graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Bay City and worked for Consumers Energy for 38 years serving the Bay City, Tawas and Cadillac areas. He was a parishioner at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, the Tawas Area Lion’s Club, several other civic activities, and spent 30+ years as a member of Cadillac Area Modelers Society (CAMS). Ed enjoyed his time spent with his family and building and flying his model airplanes. For many years he was actively involved in his hobby as an instructor, treasurer of CAMS and the annual Labor Day air show. He married Carole (Peterson) Savage, the love of his life on April 27th, 1954, and together they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage.
Preceding him in death were his parents; siblings, Fred Savage, James (Barbara) Savage, Marjorie (Robert) Mysliwski, and Bernadette Kalinowski.
He is survived by his wife, Carole; loving daughters, Amy (Steve) Colasinski of Rockledge, FL., Lori (Earl) Parsons of Cheboygan, Jill (David) Rademacher of Westphalia, and Jennifer (Steven) VanderRoest of Traverse City; grandchildren, Craig and Keith Colasinski, Kayte (Todd) Schryer, Shawn and Kyle Parsons, Tessa, Simon, and Rachel Rademacher, Ethan, Elliot, and Luke VanderRoest; great-grandchildren, Parson, Elliott, and Reid Schryer; siblings, Catherine (Hugh) Treanor, Mary Ellen (Pete) Miceli, Ann (Donovan) Sanborn; sister -in-law, Pat Savage; brother-in-law, Robert Kalinowski; and Angie (Don) Scherzer, Steve (Jennifer) Savage and many more treasured nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 14th, 2017 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Cadillac, with Rev. Michael Janowski presiding. Rite of Committal will be held on Wednesday, November 15th, 2017 at Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin, MI also at 11:00 a.m.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Ann School at 800 W. 13th St., Cadillac, MI 49601 or Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital Foundation, 400 Hobart St. Cadillac, MI 49601 for the exceptional care given to Ed and his family.
