Edwin Barko Sr. Obituary

Cadillac, Michigan - Edwin Louis Barko Sr., of Cadillac, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018 at his home. He was 90.


Edwin was born in Steubenville, Ohio to Louis E. and Florence (Noel) Barko. He was a proud graduate of Holy Redeemer High School in Detroit, he later went on to receive a college degree working with electronics. Edwin started his own TV and Radio Repair shop in Taylor, Michigan, which he ran for many years. He married Marlene Copeland and the couple moved to Allen Park to raise their growing family. Later, he owned and operated a mobile home park, a restaurant and a Christmas tree farm. Edwin relocated to Cadillac to spend the remainder of his retirement. He enjoyed playing the piano and organ. Edwin loved the thrill of hydro-plane boat racing and won many awards.


Edwin is survived by his children, Deborah Jean Barko, Joylyn Marie Barko and Richard (Kim) Barko; adopted daughter, Kimberly Barko-Morris; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Florence Barko; son, Edwin "Butchie" Louis Barko Jr.; sister, Mae; and two brothers, William and David.


Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and the family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
