Eileen Ann (Kendziorski) Burgis

Eileen Ann Burgis, age 83, of Houghton Lake passed away on Sunday April 28, 2019 at King Nursing and Rehabilitation Community with her loving family by her side. 

Eileen was born on August 14, 1935 in Alpena, Michigan to Richard and Lucille (Pelleran) Kendziorski. She worked as a phone operator until she started her family. Eileen was married on August 28, 1954 in Alpena to Jerry E.  Burgis. The couple moved to the Houghton Lake area in 1982 from St. Johns. Eileen was a member of  St. James Catholic Church, the CCW, prior volunteer for St. Vincent dePaul. She enjoyed fishing, watching the birds and deer, cooking, traveling, but especially enjoyed spending time with her family and going to all the children and grandchildren sporting events.  

Eileen is survived by her loving husband of 64 years Jerry E. Burgis of Houghton Lake, daughters; Jill (Howard) Sweeney of Gladwin, Sally Fitzpatrick of St. Johns and Jeri Ann (Jason) Chambers of Houghton Lake, son; Michael (Renee`) Burgis of Houghton Lake, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, sister; Jane (Dick) Moore of Cadillac. She was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law David Fitzpatrick, two brothers; Jerry Kendziorski and Don Kendziorski and two sisters; Carol Tress and Maxine Enos  

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at St. James Catholic Church on Wednesday May 1, 2019 at 11:00 am with  Father Bernard Tyler officiating. Interment will be in Crestview Cemetery, Markey Township. The family will greet friends on Wednesday May 1, 2019 at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am.
