Eleanora Brauer Obituary

Eleanora Brauer, 100, died Sunday September 23, 2018 at The Brook of Houghton Lake. 

Eleanora was born to Louis and Minnie Peters in Cleveland, Ohio on October 23, 1917. Her first job was at General Electric in Ohio. She attended the Lutheran Church in Cleveland where she was a member of the Walther League Youth Group. Eleanora loved to roller skate at Euclid Beach near her home. 

At the age of 23 she married Oswald Brauer on August 23, 1941. She moved to California to be nearer to OZ as he was stationed at El Toro Marine Base there. Eleanora worked for Douglas Aircraft as a "Rosie the Riveter" while OZ served in WWII, she returned to Ohio.

After the war OZ, El, and his sister Alma and her husband, Walter Wolf purchased a Grocery/Gas Station in North Eaton, Ohio "OZ-Walts Food Market." Their only child, Cheryl, was one year old at this time. The state bought the property in 1957 to widen the highway. OZ and El moved to Elyria, Ohio where Eleanora loved to cook, bake and sew. She worked for the school district as a cook until retirement. They moved to California where OZ died in 1981. Eleanora moved to Las Vegas, Nevada to be near her older sister and husband. She moved to The Brook of Houghton Lake in 2005 where she was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. Eleanora was still passing out church bulletins to the people at The Brook spreading the word of God until the end of her earthly life. 

Surviving Mrs. Brauer are her daughter, Cheryl (Peter) Daellenbach of Roscommon, grandson by marriage; Christopher Daellenbach of Boise, Idaho and his children; Christian and Destiny Daellenbach of Boise, Idaho, sisters-in-law; Alma Wolf and Geraldine Brauer of Ohio, four nieces; Barbara (Dick) Landspurg-Gonce of Nevada, Karen (Dean) Tinkler of Kansas, Audrey Loeser of Ohio and Diane (Mike) Farrow of Ohio and three great nieces, one great nephew and their children. Eleanora was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Oswald Brauer, sisters; Natalie Schramm and Ruth Davidson, brothers-in-law; Walter Wolf and Arthur Brauer. 

Memorial Service will be at St. John Lutheran Church Friday September 28, 2018, officiated by Rev. Ted Voll. Those wishing to visit with the family can come at 10:30 am; the service will start at 11:00 am with a luncheon to follow. Interment  will be at Lutheran Memorial Park in Hinckley, Ohio. Memorials may be sent to charities of your choice in lieu of flowers.
