Genevieve Hnat

Genevieve Hnat, age 91, of Prudenville passed away on Thursday January 9, 2020 at King Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. 

Genevieve was born on March 20, 1928 in Hamtramck, Michigan to George and Angeline (Stodolak) Hnat. She worked as an office manager for an advertising company before moving to Prudenville in 1977. Genevieve also worked at Ford's Hardware and later at Ox Yolk in Prudenville for many years. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and she enjoyed gardening, listening to music, watching the birds and squirrels and spending time with her friends. 

Genevieve is survived by a handful of close friends that she considered to be like family. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Helen (Harold) McCracken and Anna N. Hnat and her Uncle Stanley. 

Mass of Christian Burial for Genevieve Hnat will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday January 14, 2020 from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Father Jim Doherty officiating. Interment will be in Denton Township Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 14, 2020 from 9:00 am until the time of the service at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Memorial contributions in memory of Genevieve are asked to be directed to St. Bonaventure Capuchin Monastery located at 1740 Mt. Elliot Street, Detroit, Michigan 48207.
