Traverse City, Michigan - Gerald "Jerry" David Richard, of Mesick and formerly of the Manton area, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Birchwood Nursing Center in Traverse City. He was 76.

Jerry was born on October 7, 1940, in Mount Clemens, Michigan to David and Elizabeth (Moran) Richard. He was a graduate of Utica High School. Jerry spent his career working as a skilled tradesman throughout his life and was a proud member of Union #1102. Jerry relocated from downstate to Northern Michigan with his young children to start their life in the Manton Area. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing and riding his 4-wheeler. Jerry liked sports and especially liked watching the Lions and Tigers. He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. Jerry was a faithful Eastern Star member, Chapter 197, and a member of the Mesick Masonic James E. Dillon Lodge #466. 

Jerry is survived by his children, James (Kathy) Richard of Mesick, Patricia Brun of East Jordan, Gerald D. Richard, Jr. of Australia, and Janet Richard of Lapeer; five grandchildren, Jacqueline (David) Kline, Erik Brun, Eian Richard, Claire Richard and Elizabeth Richard; brother, Roy (Sandra Chrispell) Richard of Houghton Lake; five nephews, Dennis (Theresa) Young, Chad Young, Danny (Kim) Richard, Mike (Joni) Richard and Ben (Laura) Richard; and many other loving family members and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his son, David Richard; sister, Geraldine Young; and his parents.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Mesick Masonic Lodge #466.
