Jack Jeffers Obituary

Manton - Jack Duane Jeffers, resident of Manton and Casa Grande, AZ,  passed away on Wednesday evening, September 19, 2018 at Munson Healthcare's Cadillac Hospital, with family by his side. He was 84.

Jack was born into a large family on January 9, 1934, in Greenwood Township, Michigan to parents, Milo and Bessie (Hurlburt) Jeffers. Following his education as a young boy at he Greenwood school, Jack became a graduate of Manton High School. In 1954 he entered into marriage with the love of his life, the former, Ruth Chaffee in Cadillac.  Jack made his living working with City of Cadillac street department for 31 years, until his eventual retirement in 1996. Jack then took a passion for camping into his next career and ran the park at Lake Billings, alongside Ruth, for the following 14 years.  

He was a life-member of Cadillac Motorcycle Club and thoroughly enjoyed every opportunity to ride.  Jack could often be tinkering on cars or with his next wood-working project. However, Jack's true passion was for his family and grandchildren, there was no greater joy then creating the endless memories around the campfires, starlight, and lakeside while camping. 

Jack is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth Jeffers of Manton; his children, Pam (William) Munson of Cadillac, Penny (Rick) Williams of California, Ella Jeffers of Colorado,  Neil (Zona) Jeffers of Arizona; 9 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter;a brother, Jerry (Polly) Jeffers of Manton; sisters, Wuanette DeRosha of Traverse City, Kathleen Riplow of Fife Lake, and Patricia Emery of Manton; his sisters-in-law, Carolyn and Nellie Chaffee; a brother-in-law, Jerry (Joyce) Chaffee.; lots of nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Fern Jeffers, father, Milo Archie Jeffers, brother, Maynard (Veronica) Jeffers, brother, Alfred L (Pauline) Jeffers, brother, Arden Jeffers, brothers-in-law, John Paul Hurlburt, Sylvester Kay Emery, In-laws, Niel & Annie Chaffee;

Per his wishes cremation has taken place, and a memorial gathering will occur next year alongside the lake.  A service announcement will appear closer to the time of services.  His urn will be laid to rest with his family at the Greenwood Township Cemetery in Manton at a later time. 

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Munson Healthcare Hospice and Fresenius Kidney Care of Cadillac for the wonderful and compassionate care they provided.
