James Whittaker Obituary

James Harold Whittaker, age 74, of Roscommon passed away on Sunday December 16, 2018 at McLaren Macomb Hospital with his loving family by his side.

James was born on September 23, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan to Harry and Edna (Eichbauer) Whittaker. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. James retired from General Motors where he had worked as a supervisor for many years. He moved to the Higgins Lake area 15 years ago from Novi. James loved spending time outdoors, he enjoyed gardening and being able to build and fix things around the house. He enjoyed watching college football and especially enjoyed watching his grandson James wrestle for MSU. 

James is survived by his children; Glen (Tammy) Whittaker of North Carolina and Lisa (Richard) Detkowski of Lexington, Michigan, grandchildren; Reilly Whittaker, Kelsey Whittaker and James Russell and brother; Dwight Whittaker of Lansing. He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.

Per James wishes cremation has taken place and Military Honors will be conducted on Wednesday January 2, 2019 at 12:30 pm at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. In-lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Folds of Honor at www.foldsofhonor.org or mailed to Folds of Honor, Department 13, Tulsa, OK 74182.
