Jerry Bartholomew

Clare Jerome Bartholomew “Jerry”,  age 86, of Lake City passed away October 8, 2018  at the Belle Oakes Assisted Living.

Jerry was born December  5, 1931 in Norwich Township of Missaukee County to Clare and Lottie (Twining) Bartholomew.  He married Jean Schooley on February 7, 1959 in Lake City.  Jean preceded him in death in 2010.

Jerry completed his military career with the US Air Force in 1987 and retired in Georgia to enjoy the warm weather and pursue his passion of golf which extended into rating golf courses in Georgia and Michigan. He was also skilled in building custom golf clubs.

Jerry enjoyed fishing with the family and spending his summers in Lake City.

He had been a member of the American Legion Post 300 of Lake City.

Jerry is survived by two daughters Carol (Stan) Mieras of Grand Rapids and Debra (Michael) Pollak of Hayward, California, four grandchildren: Shane Mieras, Brandon (Emily) Mieras, Nicole (Chris) Robinson and Cynthia Pollak and three great grandchildren Allie, Trevor and Claire. 

He is also survived by a brother Fred (Janet) Bartholomew and a sister Joan (Bob) Weatherby, both of Lake City and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents and wife Jean, Jerry was preceded in death by two brothers Wilbert and Earl and a sister Audrey.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Lake City United Methodist Church with Pastor Jean Smith officiating.  A time of visitation will be on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Young-Holdship Funeral Home in Lake City.

Burial will take place in the Lake City Cemetery with graveside military honors provided by the American Legion Post 300 of Lake City.
