John Charles Herbst Jr., age 83, of Roscommon passed away suddenly on Wednesday October 24, 2018 at home.
John was born on April 5, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Eleanor (Risdon) Herbst. John was married on January 24, 1981 in Mt. Clemens to Olivia Roemelen. The couple moved to Roscommon 20 years ago from Utica. He was a second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, he enjoyed doing word search puzzles, watching football especially Alabama but was passionate about bull riding.
John is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Olivia Herbst of Roscommon, children; Meghan (Jim Francisco) Herbst, James Herbst, Gloria Herbst and Denise Herbst, step-children; Tamara (Don) Moakley, Dawn Beekman, Gina (Ann) Bommarito, Giovanni (Diem) Bommarito and John (Sherri) Salyers, grandchildren; Brody, Rosie, Cianna, Lilli, Ninna, Adrianna, Jack, Robert, Toni, Amanda and Heather, brothes; Richard Herbst, Thomas (Ginny) Herbst and sister; Sister Irene Herbst-Ihm. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Susan.
