Cadillac, Michigan - John R. Parmenter, of Cadillac passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Samaritas Senior Living. He was 87.

John was born November 22, 1929, to Harry and Eddytha (Waud) Parmenter in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. He entered into marriage with the former June M. Boniface on September 6, 1958 in Hespeler (Cambridge), Ontario, Canada. John and June relocated to Cadillac, Michigan in December 1966, where John went to work for the Northwood Manufacturing and Heat Treat Co. He spent his career working as a plant manager until his time of retirement in 1991. John continued his commitment to working by spending time as a consultant for BP Manufacturing. John was known to volunteer to help with projects for Mary Stark at Wexford Woodworking. He loved spending time outdoors fishing and duck hunting. In his spare time he would build model ships and furniture pieces for his family. When he was not busy with a hobby, John could be found on the ski slope, on Lake Cadillac boating, on his bicycle or having coffee with friends.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 60 years, June; daughters, Susan (John) Knapp of Cadillac and Sara (Richard) Haskin of Manton; grandson, Trevor Knapp; step-granddaughters, Nicole, Natasha and Chelsea; sister, Karen Parmeter of Keswick, Ontario; several nieces and nephews; and many other loving friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

John was lovingly cared for by the nurses and staff at Samaritas Senior Living of Cadillac and Hospice of Michigan.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. with visitation held one hour prior at the Cadillac United Methodist Church with Judy Coffey to preside. A luncheon will follow the service also at the church.
