Joseph Edward Garvin, age 73, of Houghton Lake passed away on Tuesday December 24, 2019 at home.
Joseph was born on October 3, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Margaret (Bell) Garvin. He grew up in the Detroit area where he graduated from high school in Mount Clemens and received his Associates Degree from St. Clair Community College. Joseph served for six years in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked as a Postal Worker for many years in the Key West and Marathon Florida areas before retiring. He moved back to Michigan and the Houghton Lake area 12 years ago. Joseph enjoyed fishing and loved caring for his two cats.
Surviving Mr. Garvin are his brother; John (Jan) Garvin of Prudenville, sister; Terri (Thomas) Emerick of Houghton Lake, nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother; James Garvin, sister; Kathy Garvin and partner; John Cortese.
At the request of Mr. Garvin cremation has taken place. His cremains will be interred with services in the Eternal Reef Program off the shore of Florida. Memorial contributions in memory of Joseph are asked to be directed to the Roscommon County Animal Shelter. Christler Funeral Home- Prudenville Chapel is serving the family.
