Joyce M. (Wade) Alger

Marion - Joyce Marie Alger, of Marion passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Autumnwood of McBain. She was 90.

Joyce was born on July 23, 1928, in Williamston, Michigan to Frederick and Elizabeth (DeMond) Wade. She was one of several children.

Joyce was married to John "Jack" A. Alger on June 16, 1962 in Lansing.  They had 49 wonderful years together.  Joyce worked for Montgomery Ward for a number of years as a cashier and bookkeeper.  She went on to work for Associates Discount and Loan, as a secretary and cashier for 13 years.  The couple moved to Marion in 1967 where Joyce worked part-time for Merrifield Grocery, also as a cashier. Joyce enjoyed listening to music, reading, sewing, camping and traveling with family and friends. 

Joyce is survived by her sister, Betty Wahlers; many nieces and nephews; as well as several other loving family members, friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; sisters, Lorena Perry, Mary Sheldon, Patricia LaTroe and Ruby Hock; and one brother, William Wade.

Funeral services will take place at 11 am on Saturday, December 1st at the Fosnaught-Holdship Funeral Home.  Interment will take place at Glendale Cemetery in near Okemos at 2 pm, Monday, December 3, 2018. 

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
