Karen Nancy Brandes-Barnes

Karen Nancy Brandes-Barnes, age 59, of Prudenville passed away on Monday July 15, 2019 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City surrounded by her loving family.

Karen was born on January 1, 1960 in Dearborn, Michigan to Merle and Nancy (Thomas) Brandes. Karen moved to the Houghton Lake area 20 years ago from Arizona. She married Scott Barnes on July 7, 2018 in Prudenville. Karen was a former hair dresser for many years before developing a career in Real Estate. She enjoyed shopping, gardening, animals especially horses, vacationing in Florida, walking the beach and spending time in the sunshine.  

Karen is survived by her loving husband; Scott Barnes of Prudenville, daughter; Vanessa Wallace of Houghton Lake, son; Blake (Amanda Sherwood) Wallace of Houghton Lake, step-children; Ashley (Brian) Witte and Brandy Barnes, grandchildren; Theo Witte, Noah Martindale and Resse Martindale, brothers; Michael (Carol) Brandes of Canton, Richard (Cindi) Brandes of Tennessee, sisters; Theresa Brandes of Tennessee, Kathy Brandes of Westland and Sheryl Wilson of Dearborn Heights, former husband and friend; Larry Wallace of Houghton Lake. Karen was preceded in death by  her parents and brother; David Brandes. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel on Friday July 19, 2019 at 5 pm with Rev. Paul Kruse officiating. The family will greet friends on Friday July 19, 2019 at the funeral home from 2 pm until the time of the service. Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel is serving the family.
