Karl W. Thomsen

Karl William Thomsen, of Traverse City Michigan, passed away on April 28, 2018 due to complications with leukemia at the age of 60. He was lovingly surrounded by his closest family.

Karl is preceded in death by his father William Thomsen, second wife Jennie Thomsen and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is survived by his wife Jill Walker, daughters Elise (Ryan Repko) Thomsen-Repko and Erin Thomsen, grand-dude Luka Repko, mother Beverly Thomsen, sister Kathy (Ben) Nelson, niece Janelle (Allen) Doan, nephews Tim, Luke, Ted (Andrea) and Tony (Genna) Nelson and many great nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be missed by one energetic black lab whom he spoiled, Riley, and the feline-in-charge, Nelly.

Karl was born and raised in Cadillac Michigan but also spent many years of his life in Traverse City where he worked at Munson Medical Centre. He studied nursing in Cadillac and Respiratory Therapy at Ferris State University.

Besides spending time with those Karl loved most, his life was regularly enriched by playing and listening to his favourite music, writing, intellectually sparring with others and enjoying all of Michigan's four seasons.

The visitation for Karl will be held at Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home in Cadillac on Friday, May 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. A celebration of his life will be held,also in Cadillac, at the Independent Bible Church on Saturday, May 5 at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.

Karl valued the pursuit of knowledge greatly and always tried to provide for those he cared for in his life. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to the Karl Thomsen Memorial Fund to provide an education for his grandson and any possible future grandchildren.
