Kenneth Clare DeWitt, 75, of Roscommon passed away on Wednesday September 4, 2019 at The Villa at Traverse Point in Traverse City.
Kenneth was born on October 7, 1943 in Lansing, Michigan to Gordon and Frances (Wyckoff) DeWitt. He grew up in the Lansing area graduating from J.W. Sexton High School in 1961. Kenneth served as a SGT(T) E-5 with th Army stationed in Korea during the beginning of the Vietnam War. He worked as a salesman and purchasing agent for Plumbing Supplies of Lansing and later for Ovid Seed Company. Kenneth was married in Lansing to Betty Jean Knight. He was a member of VFW and NRA. Kenneth was a volunteer with the Department of Natural Resources for several years working the boat launches on Houghton Lake and Higgins Lake.
Surviving Mr. DeWitt are his loving wife, Betty Jean DeWitt of Roscommon; two step sons, Steve Roggow of Roscommon, and Jeff Roggow of Lansing; step daughter, Wendy Towers of Lansing; three brothers, Jon DeWitt of Houghton Lake, Charles (Audrey) DeWitt of San Antonio, Texas, and Ed DeWitt of Roscommom; several nieces and nephews. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services for Kenneth Clare DeWitt will be conducted at 11:00am on Wednesday September 11, 2019 from Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel with Rev. George Spencer officiating. Interment will be in Crestview Cemetery, Markey Twp. Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 11, 2019 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton Lake Chapel.
