Lillard "Jim" James Foster, age 88, of Houghton Lake passed away on Sunday September 1, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born on May 14, 1931 in Knoxville, Tennessee to George and Ira (Stratton) Foster. He served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War where he received the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars. Jim was married on July 3, 1954 in Dearborn to Diane Lapinski. Jim and Diane vacationed in the Houghton Lake area for over 40 years before making it their home in 1992. He enjoyed bowling, being a craftsman and woodworker and loved making bird houses.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 65 years; Diane Foster of Houghton Lake, sons; Mathew (Summer) Foster of Bathe and Mark (Mary) Foster of Brooklyn, daughter; Marcia (Kelly) Wolfe of Lansing, grandchildren; Carey (Michael) Riina, Dale Foster, Trevor Coffey and Tyler Coffey, great grandchildren; Liam, Gavin and Evie, sister; Katie Faulkner of Knoxville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.
Per Jim's wishes cremation has taken place and Military Honors will be conducted Monday September 16, 2019 at 2 pm at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel is serving the family. Condolences can be sent to the family online at www.christler-holdship.com
