LuRena M. Sipes, age 92, formerly of Stittsville, passed away October 15, 2019 at the Maple Ridge Living Center in Lake City.
LuRena was born January 16. 1927 in Goodrich, MI to Charles and Clara (Husted) Callard. She married John F. Sipes June 16, 1956 in Flint. He preceded her in death in 1994. The family moved to Northern Michigan in 1969 where LuRena became very active in the Moorestown-Stittsville area and was given the honor of being named the Queen of Stittsville. She was employed at the former Manton Industry for sixteen years and two years at the Missaukee Café in Lake City. LuRena never met a stranger and loved the time spent with her family. LuRena was a member of the Moorestown Stittsville United Methodist Church and the Moorestown Sunshine Club.
LuRena is survived by her children: Garry (Carolyn) Davis of Pontiac, Bonnie (Dennis) Wagner of Lake City, John (Joann) Sipes of Manton, Judy Collins of Flint, and daughter-in-law Ruth Ann Sipes of Soldotna, Alaska. She is also survived by twenty-six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. LuRena was preceded in death by her parents, former husband, George Mason, two sons, Richard and Darwin Sipes, son-in-law, Larry Collins, daughter-in-law, Neva Sipes, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the Moorestown Stittsville United Methodist Church with Pastor Hyun Jun Cho officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Young-Holdship Funeral Home in Lake City and also at the church beginning at 10:00 am prior to service time. Burial will take place in the Stittsville Cemetery.
